Celebrating an impressive 11 years with Proco, Sarah works as the Managing Director of the Brighton office, recruiting within Process & Chemicals across the EMEA region. In order to get a sense of what her time at Proco has been like so far, we caught up with her to reflect on her highlights and provide advice for future candidates.
Where did you work before joining Proco?
Immediately prior to joining Proco, I worked at Ellis Fairbank for 4 years. I have been in recruitment now for approximately 18 years.
What attracted you to Proco?
The chance to build something from the very beginning. I have always loved business development and working on cold desks, but Proco gave me the opportunity to build a whole new sector in a brand new company.
What do you enjoy about your role?
At Proco, I am able to combine being client facing, as well as being the MD of the Brighton office. It’s the ideal mix of people management and development, plus still being able to work closely with clients and candidates on search processes and their various challenges.
What are some highlights of your time at Proco?
The past 11 years have been fantastic. There have been challenges; you don’t start a new executive search firm during the world’s largest economic downturn and expect it to be easy, after all! I am surrounded by fantastic people in a non-hierarchical environment, who are all looking to achieve the very best results for everyone.
How has Proco helped you in your career development?
I have worked through 4 roles in my 11 years, and Proco has provided me with the flexibility and support to succeed in each position.
What advice do you have for prospective Proco candidates?
Run your desk like it’s your own business. Every person joining is now able to reference phenomenal clients that we partner with, and hugely successful placements, combined with client testimonials from their relevant sectors. The individual will be supported by a fantastic team of people – from fellow consultants through to marketing, finance, etc. – but what they will have to bring to the table is inherent desire to succeed.
